Wow, thanks for this. I listen to this show every Sunday night on KCSm here in the SF bay area.

Hi,

I love Jazz and recently discovered that one of my favorite Jazz radio programs has a live stream through Stanford University. I do not use Adobe flash on my Mac and this stream would not play on the Mac. The stream plays great, however, on my iPad.

For anyone who cares, the show is called "River Walk Jazz.

Hi Robert,

When we purchased an iPad for my wife, I really didn't plan to use it that much. We got the new iPad Mini. Like you, I now love listening to audio, anything from music to radio streams, books and sporting events. Having the new Radium App which allows access to XM content is wonderful. And I'm really impressed with the battery life. Last Sunday, I had charged our unit in the morning. My wife used it for a while before I took it over for the afternoon football games. I'm guessing when I started using it, the battery level may have been at around 98%. I had the unit running non-stop for 4 hours, I made no adjustments in settings to conserve battery life, VO was running. I checked the battery after 4 hours of continuous use, and it was at 88%. As it ran down about 2 to 3% per hour,I'd say this is really outstanding. The unit was in a locked state, so perhaps that helped.

Hi,

I am a huge iPhone lover and was rather slow to really come to love the iPad.

I am totally blind and like others have said, I spent a lot of time wondering whether or not the larger screen really offered the VoiceOver user any advantage.

Last year, my employer purchased the iPad 3 for everyone in my department who wanted one. I got one and gradually installed some of my favorite apps. I discovered that I really enjoyed working with email and safari on the larger screen. In mail, for example, all of the mailboxes are listed along the left side of the screen. You can simply run your finger down the mailbox column and double-tap on the mailbox that you want to open. Of course, I can work fine with email on my iPhone but this layout on the iPad is nice for both sighted and blind users.

I also found that listening to audio on the ipad's built-in speakers was nicer than the iPhone's speaker. Again, I can hear audio just fine on the iPhone but given a choice of listening to a book or sports broadcast on either, I would choose the iPad.

Also, it is really nice to have two iOS devices so that when the battery runs low on one, you can grab the other device and keep on working.

I ended up liking the iPad enough that when the new much faster and thinner iPad Air came out, I gave the iPad 3 back to my department and purchased the iPad Air.

I do agree that having both an iPhone and an iPad is a luxury. If I could only afford one, I would choose the iPhone. Having them both is certainly the best of all for me.

We have one of the newer Mini Gen2 models; and battery seems to be in the negative, shorter charge time means smaller charge; certainly not as good

Agree about use of mBraille on it, though I sold my 1st gen Mini in favour
of a second 4S phone. I can't see enough for the bigger screen to have
offered anything useful, so let itgo.

Personally, I don't think the iPad offers anything the iPhone does not in
terms of apps. It has a better battery life, and some people prefer the
interface that some apps (like Mailor Safari) offer, but that's it. Oh, if you use Mbraille, you can type with your fingers straight across the screen. Low vision users often like the larger screen for viewing magnified images
or other low-vision apps, but for a blind person that does not matter.

iPad offer any extra benefit as a productive tool over an iphone?
