Hi, that is what confirmation dialogs are for. That's all you would need to avoid accidental deletion not to mention you could always get them back from the trash folder in a pinch.

Any good mail program has this feature. It doesn't mean everyone has to use it. It's an option that's sorely missing IMHO.

Hello All,

After reading many threads on how to delete emails all at once, I decided to see what all
the hipe was all about. In both my Gmail and personal email account, in the upper right
hand corner there is an edit button. Once the interface opens, if one double taps on the
email to delete, VO will say "selected." Select all the emails one wants to get
rid of, and then go to the bottom left hand corner and tap on the delete button. VO will
also announce the number of deleted item. I believe that the Apple developers purposely
did not place a clear button to prevent users from deleting important emails
accccidently. JMO. So, for all of those on this list who want an all clear button, think
twice about what you wish for. It might bite back in the future. I guess I am not
bothered by not having an all clear button for my email.

Take care.

Best,
Eileen
