Hi, here is a suggestion for searching. Try typing the whole name in
quotes. "John Doe" This lets search engines know you want to searc for
the whole term as one item not separate key words.

I just joined the public library here and they are members of
Overdrive which allows you to download eBooks and audio books to your
IOS device. I downloaded the Overdrive app and I am still working
with it but what worked out well was that when I found an eBook that I
wanted from the library I was able to download it as a Kindle format.
It then switched me to the page on Amazon and I had to click on Get
your library loan or whatever the Get link was. Then it showed up in
the Kindle app on my phone and will be available for my iPad as well
for two weeks.
The searching from the Overdrive app is very difficult. I got to it on
my laptop through the website for my local library. You need a
library card number to download a book. A lot of the better books are
not available immediately but you can put a hold on up to five of
them. The ones you actually download will stay on your app for two
weeks. I have been locating these because my husband reads eBooks and
he is totally incompetent on the computer.
Some tips about searching on the Overdrive website...When you put in
an author’s whole name such as Michael Conley it finds all the books
by a Michael or a Conley and you have to go through a lot that way. I
started just putting the last name and then doing Jaws searches on
each page for the first name. I also had some luck using the advanced
search and choosing various subjects from the drop down menu such as
mystery. Then when you find an author you were looking for you can
click on it and find more books by her or him. this was actually more
successful for me.
Anyway I saw some people asking about the free loan of Kindle books
with the Amazon Prime and this is much better since you can have up to
5 books at a time for free. And the Amazon Prime loans won’t work on
the Kindle app, just Kindle machines.
Just a note...I also like the fact that I can send documents that I
want to read on the Kindle to my personal
mailto:personal.kindle.em...@kindle.com and they also get loaded to
the Kindle app through Amazon. I like this for some of my reference
material that I need to have handy such as the blue tooth keyboard
shortcuts, etc..

Sherrie Gosling
