Nancy, this new version sounds great. Any chance of adding support for AirPrint compatible printers? They don't use Bluetooth but are wireless and work with printers on your local WiFi network.

We are delighted to announce that Apple has approved and released the
new version of Digit-Eyes.

This version of the Digit-Eyes software has a completely new and
simplified user interface design. New features include

  * the ability to create lists,
  * toadd the items you have scanned to lists;
  * add text of your own to lists and
  * to share the lists with other people.

  * If you have a bluetooth-connected printer, you can now print labels
from your iPhone, iPad or iPod on your printer.

  * In addition to reading QR code, UPC/EAN codes and codes 3 of 9 and
code 128, it now reads the shelf tag format used by Kroger stores,
the fastest growing and largest grocery chain in the US.

  * The new version also features integral laser scanner support to
allow you to easily use your bluetooth-connected laser scanner with
    your iPhone, iPod or iPad.

So what are these features /*for*/ and why did we do them?

The list feature makes it easy to remember what you are going to buy and
what you need. When I scan something that I'm going to use to make
dinner and I want to replace it, I just add it to the grocery list.
When the husband goes to the store, I click 'email' and send him the
list (plus any additional items I want.) Very handy!

The ability to print labels from the phone was created in response to
customer requests.

Kroger is the fastest growing grocery chain in the US. They own
Kroger, King Soopers, Frys Groceries, Ralphs, Pay Less Supermarkets,
Owen's Supermarkets, Fred Meyer, Scotts Food & Pharmacy, Smiths Food,
QFF, Dillons, Baker's FoodsCo, CityMarket, Food4Less, JayC, QuikShop,
Gerbes, Harris Teeter and others. All their stores use the same labels.
The labels contain UPC numbers, but not in UPC format. Now, with
Digit-Eyes, you can take your phone any Kroger store and "read" the
shelf labels -- no more hunting for codes on products!

Finally, for people who want to have an integrated laser scanner, you
can now get the KoamTac KDC400-series iPhone laser cradle, snap your
phone into it and use it as input to Digit-Eyes on your iPhone. The
KDC400 serves as a case for your phone; it still performs all phone
functions, but it is also a laser scanner. And, of course, it uses
VoiceOver. So if you have a need at work (as one of our customers did)
to recognizing items at high speed very high speed (or even if you just
want to have laser recognition), this gives you a laser-based
solution that is enormously faster than the IDMate, is significantly
cheaper, has no database update cost and that fits seamlessly with the
phone that you already have.

This version also integrates with discrete (separate) laser scanners,
enabling you to initiate scanning from your phone or to use the scanner
controls to drive input into Digit-Eyes.

The update is free and if you have a copy already, you'll be receiving
your update shortly, if you have not gotten it already.
