Joe The jail break is very easy and the steps you laid out is fairly accurate. The only step that I had to do that you didn't mention is right before the jail break is finished, you will need to click on the Cydia icon on your IPhone to finish up the jb. Make sure when you reset your IPhone that you get VO speaking before you do the jail break or you won't be able to get to the cydia icon without sighted help.
After you jail break check out a tweak called virtual home and cc control. My two favorites so far. Good luck.
