One point I want to add concerning Chris's reply; this is regarding POP3 service (I know very little about IMAP so will refrain from commenting to that regard).

If you are using POP3 service, you may run into a slight problem in that switching from a single device-based e-mail client to having two devices accessing the same account may result in some issue with both devices receiving all messages. Here's what I mean; suppose on your PC you have the POP3 service configured such that the messages are deleted from the server when they're downloaded to that PC. Well, if those messages are removed from the e-mail server before your iPhone has a chance to attempt to retrieve them, the iPhone will never get them. And if you have the e-mail client on your iPhone similarly configured, the PC may never get messages removed from the server after being downloaded to the iPhone.

Now, you can always disable that specific aspect of configuration (on both PC and iPhone), but then you'll need to take measures to eventually remove those messages from the server. There is, the last time I checked into it, a limit on the amount of disk space ISP entities allow any e-mail service so you will need to purge the server of old messages in some fashion.

Just a cautionary note, that's all.
