Which side of your body is the iPhone on? If it is across your body from the 
bluetooth receiver of the headset, this may well be the problem. In addition to 
A2DP, look for Bluetooth 3.0 or Bluetooth 4.0.

Finally, if you have the iPhone a little away from your body, the signal 
quality will probably improve.
