Something that can always be helpful, is use item chooser. 2-finger triple-tap, then search for play. I just tried this inside the Netflix app and was brought right to the play button.
Once you begin your movie/tv show, your phone goes into landscape mode. Along the bottom will be controls to interact with. The scrubber for rewinding/fastforwarding moves left & right.
