Hello Wayne, know if you buy a phone from AT&T you will be locked to that 
carrier. However I believe if you buy from the Apple store your information is 
correct you will be a will to take it to a different carrier. Now however 
spring is a CD in a network and AT&T is GSM. So consider that whenever you buy 
your phone. Personally, if you're going to go to spring I'm recommends buying a 
CDMA phone that talk about data speeds, sprints then used to be good here in 
Texas but it is gotten really really bad the last couple of months. So I'm my 
personal opinion I would stay with what you have especially if you have no 
Wi-Fi.
