Hi Rob, The Ipad mini is smaller than the original Ipad. I traded in a gen Ipad to purchase a smaller mini with retina display. I find the sound much better on the new mini I have than the 4th gen. NLS books sound outstanding on the mini. The vo voice is also clearer too.
