Joseph, I did going to the control center and in fact, Wi-Fi was turned back on after I asked Siri to accomplish that task. So apparently, one can use Siri to turn it on and off. In any event, this is a great tip and I like the idea of turning off Wi-Fi when I don't need to use it or cannot use it.
