Hi Kathie, You can't bulk delete emails in iOS, the best you get is to double tap each message to select it and then delete the selected messages. I don't think that's a good option with 8,000 messages. The only exception is the Trash mailbox, if you had that many emails in there you could just double tap on Edit at the top right of the screen, then find the Delete All option at the bottom right. I assume you want to do this in your gmail accoiunt? Well, unfortunately as far as I know there is not even a "select all" option on the web interface of gmail where you could select all messages and delete them.
By the way, your actual question showed up underneath Robin's message. I also started a new thread with the subject you chose because I do believe you highjacked the "NEW iPhone User & Recommendations & Suggestions" thread by replying to Robin's message in that thread and then changing the subject. Just thought I explain this for the future as highjacking of threads is something the list moderators don't like. Easy rule of thumb is that if your message does not concern a particular subject/thread then start a new message and don't use "Reply To" to send your message and then change the subject.
