Zoe, the first step is to get the TextSync app on your iPhone 4S. It sounds
as if you might have already downloaded it to your computer through iTunes
which would give you the option of syncing your computer to your phone
through iTunes to transfer the app to your phone. Your other choice is to go
to the Apps Store on your phone, search for TextSync with no spaces between
Text and Sync and download it straight to your phone. The developer is
Notable Group. I think this would be easier than syncing the computer to
your phone via iTunes to transfer the app.

Once the app is installed on your phone, the first time you run it, you will
be presented with the URL you will need to put in the address box on your
computer's browser in order to link your computer with your phone. This is
the URL you were asking about in your post. You should bookmark this URL
address in your computer's browser. Be aware that the URL provided by the
app consists of numbers, periods, and a colon within it such as
192.168.1.35:1515. I have my phone set to only pronounce some punctuation
and this colon was not spoken by VoiceOver on my phone. In my case, the
colon came before the last 4 numerical digits in the URL.

Once the URL provided by the TextSync app is successfully entered into your
browser, a box will open on your browser while the app is running on your
phone and anything you type into that box will automatically appear in the
comparable box on the app. There is a button below the box allowing you to
copy this text to make it easy to transfer it to another app on the phone
for pasting. It is also possible to place text into the box on the app for
transfer up to the computer into the TextSync URL opened in your browser.

I hope the above makes sense but write back if you have more questions. The
app is very useful.

Hi there, I'm very interested in this app. Can you help me with the
installation of this app. I have an iPhone 4s running the latest ios and
ahp laptop running windows 7 and latest jaws.
I clicked on the link in your original message. A diologue popped up asking
me to allow the internet to open itunes. I allowed and then I clicked on
free to download the app. A diologue popped up asking me to sign in with my
apple id, which I did and then I clicked get.
Now call me dense but now I'm lost what do I do next? Do I connect my
iPhone where is the app how do I get it onto my desktop? You talk about
pasting some url into somewhere, sorry I forget where, what url is this and
where do I find it? Have I really confused you? I hope not because as you
can surely see I'm very very confused maybe its just not my day, please

Subject: TextSync - Send text from a Windows computer to your iOS device

Hi all,

I just installed a great little iOS productivity app called TextSync. This
app allows you to type whatever you want on your Windows computer and have
the text instantly show on your iDevice. You can send text from your iPod or

iPhone with or without your iDevice being attached to your computer and you
do not need iTunes running.

Here's how you use this app. You type in a url into the Run dialogue of your

Windows computer (you only have to do this once and save the path as a
shortcut on your desktop etc). You are then presented with a very simple and

easy to use screen with a single edit field. You type in your message into
the edit field then down arro to a send button, and your text will
instantaneously show on the TextSync app on your iOS device. You can now use

the "Copy" button in the TextSync app to copy the text to the iOS clipboard
and move the text into any other app. I launched Internet Explorer on my
Windows desktop computer and copied a Wikipedia article with 137,000
characters and pasted in the desktop version of the TextSync edit field, and

it took only a couple of seconds for the text to be copied to my iPod--it is

definitely a fast little app.
Again, it is important to Note that your iDevice does not have to be
physically connected to your desktop at all. <Nice!>.

Since I want to be able to fill my iPod with very important private
information, I contacted the app developer to inquire about the security of
his app. Here is his reply/explanation:
"Hello,
The security is ensured by P2P direct link via IP, thus there is no chance
to perform a mid-person attack (which happens when you attempt to connect to

a server by entering domain name, which need DNS servers to resolve the IP
address).
The direct link need no DNS server, and all your data stream remains on the
local network, not over the Internet.
You can rely on the Wi-Fi connection."

Here is the link where you can read up on this app including a very good
audio podcast on how to use this app.
http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/productivity/textsync-typing-computer

Here is the link to the apps store:
TextSync - Typing from computer on the App Store on iTunes
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textsync-typing-from-computer/id866535807?mt

Oh yeah, though this app is $3 I'm using the free version, after the initial

ad when starting the app, the additional very small ads at the bottom of the

screen don't interfere with the use of this app at all. For $3, this is a
great buy and sure to be one of my most used apps when I make the purchase.
