Hello Joseph, The information regarding earlier versions of IE not playing nicely with many of Apple's websites comes from (1) MarkTaylor who spends a great deal of time on various Apple websites with many different computers running various versions of IE and (2) Apple's warning message that may pop-up when attempting to access certain of its sites with older web browsers.
