Hi alan, On my Amazon Basics keyboard I'm not experiencing this 1 second performance you have described. While in the search box edit field, I then go to turn on the Bluetooth keyboard, and it takes me about 15 seconds of tapping on keys before I get any speech conveying what it is I'm typing. Maybe I got one from a bad batch.
Whoa!--just had a major crash. Lost all sound and had to attach to desktop and fire up iTunes. All looked normal, so powered down and restarted. Voice came back on iPod, but I don't know why it disappeared to begin with. There is a power switch on the Amazon Basics Bluetooth wireless keyboard underneith the keyboard. You can tell if it's off or on by touch. When you turn on the power, and are in a text box, it only takes a second and you can type away. The Amazon Basics Bluetooth wireless keyboard is roughly 10 inches from left to right, and 5 inches from front to back as well as about an inch at it's highest point. It would easily fit in a backpack and Amazon sells a soft case for it. The case is a bit pricy at 20 bucks but if your after portibility and a bit of protection it is worth the price. Amazon does put the case and the Amazon Basics Bluetooth wireless keyboard on special.
