First, when you are in your list and find your phone, if it says closed, you want to right arrow to open it. This makes a subtle, but important difference. And when it wants to know if you want to back up those apps and purchases, say yes. When you open your phone's name, it may not ask you about the purchases any more, it simply will back them up. These two things are good examples of why, in my opinion, this encrypted backup is much better than simply backing up to iCloud.

When I do, I get two warnings, the first saying that some apps are not in my library, and the second saying that some purchases are not in my library. I'm really confused - why would I keep iOS apps on my (non-iOS) computer at all? Why would it matter if I do or not, since this should just back up all the data on my phone? All I want is to have a full image of my phone, so I can restore it when I get it back, but I don't know what these warnings are saying. Plus, the backup keeps failing, whether I tell it to back up the apps or not. I'm lost, and would really appreciate any help. Also, this is exactly why I never, ever deal with iTunes if I can help it. -- Have a great day, Alex Hall mehg...@icloud.com -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
