I think all checks need to be signed, even to cash them. BOA may be pickier
about not accepting a signature that isn't your whole name though.

When we tried doing this with the bank of America app, it asked us to have
the check sign with our name. Which of course is a bit challenging since

sure that you are far enough from the check to get it all in the picture. Also
try to make sure that it's as straight as possible. Sometimes it may take
three or four attempts, but it can work. Propper lighting is also important.

I have not tried to take a picture of a check myself, my late husband did
one and it was too large an amount to be accepted so I had to find a way to the
bank and deal with a real person, what is this world coming to (smile)

I am with chase bank and I have been able to use there app. Sometimes it
may take a few tries but it works.
