Yes, it does require a 64 Bit processor. You would have to upgrade to an Ipad
Air or iPad Mini Retina or whatever this year's versions will be.

As for how understandable it is that is hard to say since from what I
understand hearing loss is a very individual thing with some people not hearing
high frequencies and others maybe not hearing lower frequencies so well.

At this point only those who run the iOS 8 Beta would have access to the Alex
voice and if they are users with legitimate developer accounts they are not
supposed to really talk about it. The good news is that in exactly 2 weeks the
list will be flooded with messages about iOS 8 and I'm sure many of these posts
will be about the Alex voice. A lot of other messages will probably be from
Pablo who will complain how iOS 8 is really bad and how it is totally unfair
that he can't downgrade to iOS 7. Sorry, couldn't help myself with that one,
Pablo, if you are reading this remember it comes from a joker who likes to
tease. But in all seriousness, anybody who doesn't like to deal with a certain
amount of bugs and unpredictable behavior should probably not upgrade to iOS 8
until others on the list have discovered all the Voiceover as well as
non-Voiceover problems.

  Sieghard

  Hi Group,

I heard about the Alex voice. Is this voice a very clear to understand voice
as I am very hard of hearing. Also can the Alex voice be used on an iPad 4? I
thought I read somewhere you have to have the 64 bit processor to be able to
use the Alex voice. Can anyone in lighten me on the use of the Alex voice.

  Thanks in advance.

  Ed
