Isn't some of this against the NDA? Just curious. I will only say
this: read before updating unless you know how to restore your phone

the public release to revert before Apple no longer validates installs
of iOS 7.1.2.

Hi and thanks for the explanations. I don't know if i'm wanting quicktype,
given how utterly annoyed i get at the spellchecker on the mac which tends
to replace words i type with words that it thinks i want but i don't .:-)
Luckily though the replacement thing is gone. Let's see if the quicktype
feature finds its way to these cold parts and then i can judge if i like it
or not.

Hi Krister,

No, quick type and Direct Touch Typing have nothing to do with each
other.
Quick Type gives you predictions of words you might want to type next.
This
works in 2 ways. If I start a text message and write "I" then most likely
one of the 3 quick type suggestions is "am" which means quick type will
try
to predict what you want to write and it will learn as it goes about your
style and so on. The second way it predicts words is by coming up with
new
predictions as you start typing a word. If you type "I" and the 3
predictions it comes up with are "am", "just" and "need" and you then
start
the next word with "h" it will show new predictions like "have", "hardly"
or
"hope".

Direct Touch Typing is a new typing mode which you find if you are in an
edit field and turn the rotor to Typing Mode. So far we had Standard
Typing
and Touch Typing which we are all familiar with. Direct Touch Typing is
different from regular Touch Typing in that you actually have to tap the
screen and lift before a letter is typed, if you just touch a letter and
lift as in regular touch typing the letter won't type. It's most like a
regular physical keyboard where just touching a key and lifting your
finger
won't do anything. You have to press the key and as you do so and press
it
down and let go the letter is typed. With direct touch typing it's the
same,
it has to be a definitely tap or press and I think it might be useful on
an
iPad in landscape mode where you might be able to learn how to type like
on
a regular keyboard. I have so far not found it too helpful on the iPhone
for
the way I type and still prefer regular touch typing.

Regards,
Sieghard

I would also love to be able to use quick type, btw is that the same as
the
direct type method in the rotor setting where you can change typing
modes?
Rumor has it though that Quick type is yet another anglocentric feature
that
probably won't be available in Sweden at all, just like Siri.

I can't wait to use quicktype and all that. I'll love being able to type
on the touch screen and have only one device to have to worry about. We
shouldn't have to buy a braille display or bluetooth keyboard to be
proficient typists on iOS.

I am looking forward to iOS 8. I can't wait to use the hand off

No, anybody is responding my question. If I don't want to update my
iPhone
5s, to IOs8. Because I don't want, I don't want to hurt feelings
here,
it
is
because I don't want, it is not because bugs, ok?
Now, if I don't want to do it. In case that I want, or I need to do a
restore, of my iPhone. When I press restore, the iTunes
automatically,,
start downloading the last update available.
But I don't want to install it, what can I do to keep the IOs 7 in
my
computer, and do not download any update to my computer when I need
to
do a
restore?
Thanks
