I wonder if the package was flat?, or did it have any curve to it, and if the
lettering was fancy. Tat brings me to a question about the reader: How well
does it perform on lettering that is not standard? As we all probably know,
some lettering is written to look pretty, rather than plain old text. Also,
and this is out of curiosity, will the reader get a good picture and give a
good result if you try to read a computer monitor? This could come in handy
when you get computer errors that JAWS won't read because of the fact that it
is a Windows error that comes up before JAWS has been initiated.

I know i’m not the brightest shining star in the universe, far from it, but i
have to say that i’m quite disappointed in the app. I tried it on a package of
food and it didn’t find any text even though i know for a fact that there was
text on the package. I held it at various heights over the package but no joy
and even when it said that text was detected and to hold still, when the
picture was taken after a long while Knfb reader informed me that no text was
found.
I must say i’m not at all impressed with this, there are far cheaper apps
that do the same job. Having said that though, i do hope it’s user stupidity
rather than an overpriced app that contributes to this bad review. If anyone
has tips on how to go about to get good results, i’d be happy to know.

I've spent the last half hour or so playing with KNFB Reader on my
iPhone 5s. I couldn't be more impressed.
I read my son's school report, which it got word perfect even when it
came to reading tables. It read a glossy pizza menu fairly well. It read the
page of a book perfectly, and it read a letter I received in the mail. The
feedback one gets via vibration to line up the picture is incredibly helpful.
You can use the field of view report if you need to for even more information
about camera positioning and angle.
And, it's fast. Very fast, between taking a picture and getting
speech.
It's early days but this has actually exceeded my expectations.
Certainly it's possible to use other apps, but I've found nothing this simple,
fast, or accurate without any additional aids. Outstanding stuff.
