When I first downloaded iOS Beta 1 in June I was all excited to hear Alex. I downloaded the old fart, sorry, I don't mean you, Alan, *smile* and I felt just like Alan. Since then I sometimes go back to Alex, but it usually only lasts 5 minutes. I find especially at even slightly higher speeds that he sounds muffled and unclear. It is, by the way, possible to have both the default high quality voice downloaded and Alex and to set up the rotor so that you can simply switch between them. What you would do is add US English in the language rotor. Then download the high quality female voice as your default dialect and download Alex by going to the "More" button for the US English option. Of course you can make Alex the default and download the female high quality voice for the US English setting. Once you are done all you have to do is turn the rotor to Language and flick up or down and your voice will toggle between Alex and the original high quality female voice. If you have any other languages added to the language rotor those of course would also be there.

For an 869 meg download I was expecting to be wowed. I can't in all honesty say that this was the case. He just doesn't sound as natural as the hype said he would. Alex, even though it sucks, runs only on 64bit processors. They should've made it for other devices too like it sounded like they were going to do in the first place.
