I've spent the last half hour or so playing with KNFB Reader on my iPhone5s. I couldn't be more impressed.

I read my son's school report, which it got word perfect even when it cameto reading tables. It read a glossy pizza menu fairly well. It read the pageof a book perfectly, and it read a letter I received in the mail. Thefeedback one gets via vibration to line up the picture is incrediblyhelpful. You can use the field of view report if you need to for even moreinformation about camera positioning and angle.


And, it's fast. Very fast, between taking a picture and getting speech.

It's early days but this has actually exceeded my expectations. Certainlyit's possible to use other apps, but I've found nothing this simple, fast,or accurate without any additional aids. Outstanding stuff.
