Thanks to Cheryl for forwarding this.
If you do not have the RiVO keyboard, just use the on screen keyboard and
double-tap and hold on the "next keyboard" button to the right of the numbers
button in the lower left of the screen.
Once you have added the extra software keyboard and gone through the steps
below, at least for me and at least one other person, the bluetooth keyboard is
working again, which is what I am writing this message on.
Thanks to the RiVo team for figuring this out. Perhaps Apple should hire them.

>> There is a small bug in iOS 8.0, which makes all the Bluetooth keyboards
>> including RiVO not working for VoiceOver except a few functions. We have

>>
>> a. If you use just one software keyboard in iPhone, temporarily add another

>> b. Open the Notes app.

>> c. Create a new note.
>>
>> d. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn off the quick navigation option.
>>
>> e. Press L3 to turn RiVO into typing mode.

>> f. Hold down L1 and press L3 a few times to cycle through the list of

>>
>> g. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn on the quick navigation option.
