Thanks, Ioana,
This did work after a few tries. Unfortunately though, it inserted text the
first time that I did not type, but I finally got it to send on the third try.

Only way I found is to locate the 'send" button and keep your finger there to
mark the spot and then turn off voiceover and try tapping on that button. It is
a bit of guess work but the swish will confirm to you if it worked. THen you
can turn vo back on.

Best,

  Hi all,
Has anyone found a workaround to activate the send button in a text message?
I have an IPhone 4S and IOS 8.0.2, and I am trying to send an important message
to a friend, but it will not send! I tried swiping to it and then
double-tapping it, and I also found the send button without swiping to it and
double-tapped it, but nothing is working. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.
  Thank you,
  Misty
