The TriTone in iTunes is all you get, it indicates when a task has finished, e.g. sync has finished, backup has finished, a download is done etc. If you want to double check you can always go to your device and tab until you find where it tells you when the last backup was done (or backups if you also backup to iCloud). Here it will say when the last iCloud backup was done and also the last backup with iTunes.
