Do you remember what the cost was? I went to their site but had lots of problems activating links, such as the recommended tutorial, which pulled up an error 404 .

I think to get Webvism to work, you have to go to their site www.webvisum.com and ask to be invited to join. They want to know something about you before letting you in. I don't exactly know except that they said they wanted to be sure you were blind and really needed to use the service. It took me a couple of hoops to jump through to get it and then discovered that once I made an account at the pizza place I ordered from and ordered once, I no longer needed web visum, smile. -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rose Combs Sent: Saturday, October 04, 2014 10:23 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Apple releases online tool for checking Activation Lock status of iOS devices I still have not been able to install or use Webvisim, downloaded FF in early August but have tried to open Webvism with no results, have tried to see if there is another way to go about it but have had no success. I don't understand why they have to make everything so difficult. Seems to me that nothing comes with only one or two steps any longer. My patience is beginning to wear thin for truly difficult things that should be easier to access but that is just my opinion. Of course it really does not matter, manufacturers programs writers etc. tend to think they have to add a billion features no one will use, then make you climb through hoop after hoop after hoop to accomplish one small bit of information. Some days I wish I could go back to DOS or even CP/M I can't and I know most of you will think I am just bitching, maybe so but I have more frustrations in the past four months with something purporting to work and then not doing so. A few successes, KNFB reader for one. Sorry, just had to blow off a bit of steam after trying to get Apple to recognize my iPhone, trying to get Bluetooth to work to connect speakers and my iPad. I know I have done it more than once before but the speakers I mention have a lot of buttons and no one thought to tell me what they do, just plopped the box down said there it is and left. Have been too busy with work and fighting off sadness and depression to have scanned the manual which I assume will have tons of images, just can't seem to drum up the energy to do a tedious scanning job right now, and I can type a heck of a lot faster than I can scan even on the flatbed OK, I am off my soap box or my pity party, whatever, I will sit here and grumble to myself and maybe get over it before I leave for a hair appointment. -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Friday, October 03, 2014 11:14 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Apple releases online tool for checking Activation Lock status of iOS devices Hi Tom, When I checked the website with Internet Explorer (I am using Jaws 16 public beta) there was no option for an audio captcha. I then used Firefox and of course was able to use Webvisum to solve the captcha, but in addition Jaws announced a button "Visually Impaired" which when I pressed it gave me a relatively easy to understand audio captcha. I prefer Internet Explorer for most things, but find that nowadays one can't necessarily rely on or get by with just one browser. I find that either with IE or Firefox I can do what I need to do and I'll only try Google Chrome if all else fails. I went to icloud.com/activationlock, put in my serial number to try it, but there was a captia that I had to input the text for, with no workaround for an audio captia. Go figure. Smiles. "Introduced along iOS 7, Activation Lock is a security feature that prevents anyone from erasing or activating your iOS device without entering your Apple ID and password first. The feature must be disabled before a device is passed or sold to another person. Failure to do so renders the device unusable for the new owner." "With the release of this new tool, Apple wants to make the process of checking for Activation Lock easier, and prevent people from buying a device that might have been locked because it was lost, stolen, or simply because the previous owner forgot remove the device from his account," Page reports. "By going to iCloud.com/ActivationLock, anyone can enter the IMEI or Serial Number of an iOS device to check its status. If the device is locked, a message clarifies that the current user’s Apple ID and password will be required before anyone else can activate and use the device. -- Sent from my laptop -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
