Interesting. I suspect you're right. I saw this years ago when I first
started using Thunderbird with Gmail. Thunderbird used it's own folder
for Trash instead of using Google's. You could configure Thunderbird to
use Google's Trash folder instead, but you still had that Thunderbird
default Trash folder lying around. I know this extra Trash folder is a
new thing for me, so it's probably related to a mail client I installed
on Android recently or the latest Mail app in IOS 8. Interestingly
though, the Mail app in IOS doesn't seem to use it since if I delete a
message on my iPhone it goes into Google's Trash folder.

I just noticed this. One of the trash folders has a button and the
other one doesn't. I've created folders myself and those have
butffons. The default account folders don't seem to have them. Is this
an unnecessary folder?
