Ok, my theory follows as I got into this. I wrote a sms message, it was a tribal gathering, so added all the family members attending. It went out one at a time and charged me for each text message. Later, in the list of sent messages, it showed the message and one of the recipients I think. Going into that thread and filling out a new message also got addressed and sent to the whole group.
So, I had to go down my list of previous offerings to/from the individuals to send to them alone again. So I just deleted the thread where I sent to a group to save getting it wrong again. So at the first level where all the threads are, I tapped Edit, marked the offender, and then looked for a delete button.
