Are you new to the iPhone and coming to it from Windows? If so, the
cursor in IOS works a bit differently. It's a vertical bar that appears
between two letters. VoiceOver always speaks the character that you jump
over with the insertion point. The delete key and backspace key always
delete the character to the left of the cursor. If you arrow from left
to right then when you delete a character, you'll be deleting the
character VoiceOver just spoke. If you arrow from right to left then the
delete key will delete the character to the left of the one VoiceOver
just read.

Hi all, and thank you so much for the help. I have been writing in my journal,
using my verbatim Bluetooth keyboard with iOS 811 and the free Microsoft word
app. I have noticed that what I try to backspace the keyboard cursor doesn't
seem to be in the place I think I am when I backspace. So then when I backspace
something gets deleted that I don't want deleted
Sent from my iPhoneI have voice over set to speak characters as I type on the
hardware keyboard selection in settings. If anyone knows the solution or has
any suggestions I would really appreciate them. I only have just started using
my Bluetooth keyboard. Thank you all very much for the help. God bless, Wren
