However, the SIM does not have to be working, even an old inactive SIM will do, but a SIM has to be in the phone. You don't need the SIM tool, you can use a paperclip and bend it open or a push Pin or safety pin will also work. All you need is something to push into the hole to pop out the tray, but anything like the above will do.
