I have not done this with iTunes 12, but the process is probably pretty similar
to previous versions.

Your biggest headache will come if the CD’s are not tagged well in the database
Apple uses. I’ve had books that had different enough names between CDS that it
took a long time to retag things so it would makes sense and play in order.

Most books on CD seem to name each CD, book Title disc 1, Book title disc 2,
and so on.

If that doesn’t bother you, then you won’t have to deal with making sure each
title is the same.

Of course, that means when you read the book, it will be separated like that.

The next issue is the track names/numbers.

But, if all those happen to make sense then, before you import the CD, get to
the options tab and select audio book as the “kind.” And select skip when
shuffling and remember your place.

Then, when you import it, it will show up as a book.

If you import it without making sure it is set to audio book instead of music,
it will just show up in music and you will have to go back and fix that later,
which is more work.

I would check all the CDs in the book before you begin importing to see what
the naming conventions are.

It is tedious and takes time, but it will pay off in the end.

Or, buy the book from Audible and save yourself lots of time. It just depends
on if your time is worth more than the cost of the book.

Good luck,

Richard

Subject: Importing audiobook from CD into iTunes question

Hi,

I have some audiobooks on CD I would like to import into iTunes as audiobooks.

How do I do this? I know how to import as music, but want to do these as
audiobooks.

Thanks in advance. Keith
