Alan
I don't even know what a sidebar window is! I am totally new to the
iPhone. Here is what the site at the link Ben provided says:
Ninite is Smart
Ninite automatically installs apps in your PC's language and picks the right
32 or 64-bit version. Enterprise-Ready
Hundreds of IT Professionals use Ninite Pro to manage software installation
and updates.

If I now have the latest version of iTunes, and I am indeed running 8.1.2,
and it doesn't work for syncing, then I'll go to the link you provided that
is through Apple.

The version of iTunes you run is more about what works with your iDevice and
its version of iOS. Also, older computers running 32-bit versions of Windows
must use the appropriate iTunes and not a 64-bit version.

You might not want to install iTunes 12.x if you enjoy the sidebar window
since that was removed from iTunes 12. I find that iTunes 11.1.6 runs very
well on my Windows XP system.

Here is a link to an Apple download page that has some older versions of
iTunes as well as the latest version. Depending on your iDevice, you might
consider iTunes 11.1.5 for Windows 32-bit:

Hi,

Click this https://ninite.com/itunes/ link then click the download installer
link if the download doesn't start automatically. Once the Ninite program
opens it will download & install iTunes for you without you having to do
anything.

Cheers,
Ben.
