Dean, I don't know about any good apps for booking flights or navigating to gates but FlightView Elite is excellent for tracking flights. It gives excellent notifications on flight status and has a lot of details about the flight including gate numbers, weather info, etc. I'm not using the most recent version but the version I have is very accessible with VoiceOver.
