When the number of total pages is greater than 1, it checks the mapped address inside the first page plus its length ends on the page boundary, so the second page starts right after it without gap. In this panic: panic: invalid 1st page, ofs 0x3985000, len 2048 the mapped address inside the first page plus its length ends in the middle of the page, leaving 2048 bytes gap before starting the next page.
