I tried it with patch 540,547,553,557 and 558 with a singe HFC PCI card in NT 
mode: it had no effect, a cat /sys/devices/visdn-system/x/ec_state always 
returned "3" after echo "1" > /sys/devices/visdn-system/x/ec_state
ec module is loaded, echo configured in /etc/visdn and visdn.conf
