Hello Matteo and all vISDN developers,
This is an update about the issue with the DTMF detection.
I tried what you recommended and recorded a sample call. In the
meanwhile I captured output from Asterisk CLI.
I tried to call through IAX2, SIP softphones as well as oss/alsa drivers
- no difference for me between them.
I also recompiled and installed Asterisk version1.2.9.1.
I recompiled and installed the latest vISDN (SMS) version available on
the web site.
Basicly, the experiments above did not give out positive results: The
choppiness exists and the problem also. I just found out some other
interesting fact: If I make a call through vGSM to a PSTN phone, I hear
the chopped DTMF tones, but not soooo chopped as it was the case while
on call with another mobile phone. As a result, I dialed approx 22
digits on the touchtone phone, and all of them were 100% correctly detected.
For comparison, the link below takes to a page where I placed the CLI
logs while on a call from vGSM to a PSTN touchtone. The page also
containes a link to a sound file where you could listen to the recorded
call.
http://www.geocities.com/fichtengolts/asterisk/cli_output.htm
And this link, which I also provided in my last post, is a sound file
while on a call from vGSM to another mobile phone.

As per to Matteo:
>The interesting issue is that only you are experiencing this problem,
>all other users with same card aren't.
Hence a question arrises: could it happen that this is a hardware issue?
I don't understand on how this PCI device communicates with Asterisk and
how the voice is passed to Asterisk engine. This part is a little foggy
for me, and I just don't know whether this could be a hardware issue (My
PC hardware, or GSM PCI card). I have another card purchased from
VoiSmart. I will test it tommorow though the odds that it will solve the
issue are too low.
This is all (I think) information I collected this time for my case. I
would be happy to get recommendations and comments from Matteo and other
developers that would lead us solve this issue.
Appreciated your support!

Hi,

Asterisk does

for now visdn is made for asterisk.... so is full interoperable,

The interesting issue is that only you are experiencing this problem,
all other users with same card aren't.
> I hope vISDN developers will help me finding out and fixing the "bug".

I've listened to the wav file and is pretty a strange issue...
also because you say that the voice is good.
Please try this test, in order to find out:
* don't use the console for calling... audio support for oss/alsa
is terrible :)
* use a box with asterisk + sip phone + vgsm
* dial from sip to gsm and test
* monitor with another phone with app_chanspy the conversation
* send us logs (asterisk cli)
Please let us know,
we're willing to solve that :)
