depends what you see as "evil": The fcpci-Modules are LGPL, if that
makes them evil for you...

They work with the Linux CAPI-stack, are rock solid in combination
with chan_capi and that cards are available almost everywhere from
people switching to broadband.

The only problem migh be, that they are no longer maintained. But the
same source compiles on my system with ever changing kernels for ages
without any problem.

I found the replay-bug too annoying. But it shoulnd't be too difficult
to fix it. I guess there is just some ring-buffer that is resent
somewhere?

I can only agree... A ISDN-stack that deep freezes my system when I
forward a call from my ISDN phone menu is somehow broken. :(
