I tried installing 1.6 with default options (that include integration
for VS2008 which I do NOT have installed) and it hung during the VS
updating. I had to kill the process and reboot because the Cancel
failed, too.

I tried again with the repair option. Same result. Rebooted again.

I tried again with Modify and un-selected the VS2008 feature. Same
result. I actually let the VS updating run overnight in case it was
just really slow. But the screen is right where it was when I left it
last night: the "Updating Visual Studio settings" dialog is on the
screen and the progress bar is ALMOST completely filled.

I'm rebooting again. What should I try next time?

WinXP SP3

TIA,

Q Johnson
