The 1.5.0 release of VisualSVN Server works as a transparent write- through proxy, but 1.6.3 does not (nor does any release since 1.5.0).
I have written a set of scripts and configuration files that automatically configure the master and proxy servers (and integrate them with BugTraq and SCMbug). If you contact me by e-mail, I will gladly provide a zip file of these scripts to help reproduce the problem. Again, the scripts work perfectly with release 1.5.0, but cause the server to crash in mirror.c (line 29) in release 1.6.3 when trying to commit a new file on the proxy server.
