Hi Rosie, As mentioned on the VisualSVN Purchase web page ( http://visualsvn.com/visualsvn/purchase/), your license to VisualSVN is perpertual and applies to all 1.x versions. By running the installer for VisualSVN 1.7.1, your existing installation of VisualSVN will be upgraded and your license will stay put.
Don't forget to upgrade TortoiseSVN while you're at it.
