I have been using svnserv (standalone as windows service) on a dedicated windows hosted server machine listening on https only with a SSL certificate from godaddy.com. The certificate was up for renewal but when I tried to renew godaddy complained that it did not like the key length. After further research I find that godaddy are now insisting on having a 2048 bit key (or better). This has left me in a particularly awkward situation as the cert has now expired!
IS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN GET VISUALSVN SERVER TO GENERATE A 2048 bit key? FYI THIS IS WHAT GODADDY SAID Dear Dave Hussey, Thank you for contacting Online Support. You must use at least a 2048 bit key for the CSR generation. You will need to consult the provider of the server software, Visual SVN, and see if it is possible to generate one with a 2048 bit key. If not, you can revoke the certificate and request a refund on the renewal. Once revoked, please reply to let us know. Revocation is a permanent action and cannot be reversed. This results in the instant and permanent cancellation of your SSL certificate. If you are moving your SSL certificate to a new server, if your server has crashed, or if you have lost your private key, you will want to re- key your SSL certificate NOT revoke it. For more information, see Re- keying an SSL Certificate. NOTE: Once an SSL certificate is revoked, you will be unable to rekey it, renew it, or reissue it. It is permanently deleted. If you revoke your certificate within the first 30 days, contact Customer Service. You may be eligible for a refund.
