I remember the discussion about the openpid.t test failing.  I wonder if these
are similar issues?

I don't recall the openpid.t test failing because perl got hung, rather perl
would abort at the same time a test script exited or something like that...

. . . and search for openpid.t, although I don't know whether all the
cases where that test hangs up are cases where all the mailbox readers
are gone.
