I will just add the following to what Peter has said: 1.) If we do at some point get functions like, for example, nanosleep(), more than likely they'd just be in the main C library rather than in separate libraries of their own. 2.) Whether or not #1 is true, it's quite rare that one has to tell the linker to search a system-supplied library. For example, there is a separate library for pthreads, but the linker does not need to be explicitly told to search it. HTH -- ________________________________________ Craig A.
