Yes and making the entry points differ by the addition of one
extra letter is the approach that my suggested patch and Michael's
took (we chose different letters though).

No it wouldn't. Michael's patch added the letter '1' to the msb and
lsb entry points and left the MSB and LSB entry points unmodified.
My approach added the letter '_' rather than the letter '1'.
It might not have been clear from the terse regular expression s///
lingo I used to "describe" the suggested change.
