How big is the file? Can you zip it up and send it to me? I've written an unpublished book on RMS, which includes some tricks on recovering from various kinds of RMS errors.
Have you run ANALYZE/RMS/INTERACTIVE, or just ANALYZE/RMS on the file? Have you tried DUMP/RECORD and DUMP/BLOCK? Is the file organization SEQ, REL, or IDX?
