Hmmm... I'll take that back; I started with a new source-tree and it got me up
to Encode (both VAX and Alpha)

(this is: OpenVMS SPE180 0 V8.2 AlphaServer_DS20_500_MHz Alpha)

Running Mkbootstrap for Encode::Byte ()
MCR USER1:[ABELTJE.PERL-CURRENT]miniperl.exe "-I[---.lib]" "-I[---.lib]"
"-MExtUtils::Command" -e chmod 644 BYTE.BS
MCR USER1:[ABELTJE.PERL-CURRENT]miniperl.exe "-I[---.lib]" "-I[---.lib]"
"-MExtUtils::Command" -e cp Byte.bs [---.LIB.AUTO.ENCODE.BYTE]BYTE.BS
MCR USER1:[ABELTJE.PERL-CURRENT]miniperl.exe "-I[---.lib]" "-I[---.lib]"
"-MExtUtils::Command" -e chmod 644 [---.LIB.AUTO.ENCODE.BYTE]BYTE.BS
%MMS-F-ABORT, For target SUBDIRS, CLI returned abort status: %X10EE8180.
%MMS-F-ABORT, For target DYNEXT, CLI returned abort status: %X10EE8034.

I guess both "mms realclean" and Test::Smoke's ftp-sync leave stuff in the
source directory.

Good luck,

Abe
