You're welcome. I was aware the bad news might be too late to
address before the release. I've listed below the patches that I
think account for the lack of failures in blead in case any of the
skips and todos seem low risk enough to integrate, but also just so
folks worried about failures can see what resolved them. Perhaps
this can form the basis of something to put in perldelta, as you
suggest. I had hoped to do a test run after applying them all by
hand, but just haven't gotten a round tuit.

#26913 (though that might require a later version of Devel::PPPort
than what you've got in maint)

#26912 (dunno what version of List::Util is involved)

#26813 (VMS-only MakeMaker changes; definitely not available in a
released MakeMaker yet)

#26396 (a VMS-only TODO)

possibly 25951, though I'm not sure

#26857 (VMS-only skip)

Don't know -- the test itself hasn't changed in years.

#26396 (small test tweak)

#26710 (adding VMS to the skip already there for Win32)

Yes, I think we have plenty to do for 5.8.9, and I agree that kicking
5.8.8 out the door without further delay is in everyone's best
interest.
