Morry, you may want to try setting up port forewarding for telnet to verify that you can actually connect, but if your company is anything like mine they will probably have that blocked as well. You should try from work in IE http://<YOURPUBLICIP>:5800 and 5801 to see if the server is running. You should see the "RBF..." message. The next step would be to find another machine on the "outside" that you could use to attempt to connect to your home pc. That way, you could determine if it's you company's firewall. Another thing you could try from home is the IE http://<YOURPUBLICIP>:5800 and 5801 , I can't rember off hand but I'm pretty shure this will be allowed by your router. This will help you determine if your home router is configured properly. I know I used this to test a FTP server and my netgear router had no problems with it.

I do have a d-link router between cable modem and PC and I have configured it to forward port 5900 to the ip address of the linux box running vncserver . I also forward 5901 to the same box. But this is what I get when trying to run vncviewer from work. vncviewer: ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: Connection refused Unable to connect to VNC server Any other ideas, could it be becaucse the vncserver is being run by root on the linux machine?
