I've been working on an enhanced version of VNC for Mac OS X,
and have a developmental version available for interested people to look at.
This isn't necessarily targeted at end-users, because it
doesn't have proper (or documented) authentication support, but if you
can work that out on your own, it's very usable.
Major enhancements from the previous OSX Vnc server are:
1) Tight Encoding support,
2) Sub-screen sharing.
