Your IP address may have changes, as when you have a cable modem you are
usually using a dynamic IP address. You should verify your IP address and
try again.

Subject: What happened?

Can anyone please give me a not-too-technical suggestion, as I'm not up on
networks, etc.?

Here's the deal: I installed VNC on my computer, which runs Windows 98 and
has a cable internet connection. I then went to a friend's house, and we
installed it on his computer, which also has Windows 98 and a cable internet
connection. I was able to access my computer several times and it worked
beautifully each time, opened programs, etc.

Then, the next time I tried to access it, I got the "Failed to connect to
server" message, and have gotten it every time since. The only thing I
changed was that I went to full-screen the last time it connected
successfully.

We went to a third location with another Windows 98 computer with a DSL
connection, installed the software, and couldn't access either of the two
computers, getting the same "failed to connect to server" message each time.
I finally went home and tried to access the other two from my computer and
got the same message.

What puzzles me is that it worked so perfectly several times, and then not
at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing changed. Is there
anything else I can do, or should I just give up?
